Discuss the Nature of the Client-Consultant Relationship - 550 Words

Consulting: Discuss the Nature of the Client-Consultant Relationship (Essay Sample) Content: Nature of Client-Consultant RelationshipName:Institution:Nature of client-consultant relationshipThe client is an individual who buys the services of the consultant; the consultant is the person that renders his or her service to the client at paid rate, and the client-consultant relationship is the path through the services is provided. The relationship is driven by a common goal that is to be achieved at the end of consultancy, that is, the solution to the problem or the challenge faced by the client (Kipping and Clark, 2012).Illustrating the nature of the client-consultant relationship is quite challenging without the help of the models that is developed to describe the relationships. The following models can be used to illustrate the relationship. The expert modelThe model views the consultants to be the pathways through which idea is developed and generated to the clients concerning a particular problem. The work of the client or the organisation is to receive the plan that is developed by the consultant (Czerniawska, 2003). The model is applicable in situations that are difficult to handle, unpredicted conditions and problems arising from an invention of a certain framework that has failed to work well in an organisation. The nature of consultancy as shown in this model is that it is based on professionalism and expertise such that the consultant is given the authority and responsibility of handling the problem alone without the help of clients. The nature of the relationship in this model is that the clients describe or narrate the issue to the consultant and the consultant find ways to solve the issues and give recommendation basing on the level of the problem. The responsibility of the client is to take the suggestion as it is and make implementation mitigate the problem as well as diagnosis of the information McKenna, 2006).The social learning modelThe models describe that the client and the consultant share 50/50 contribution to the pr oblem-solving process. The process of problem solving involves learning from the association, change of attitudes and carrying out research on what could have initiated the problem. The nature of consultancy in this model is that there exist a combination of understanding, knowledge and expertise in both the client and the consultant in diagnosing the problem facing the organization. The solution ranges from ideas from their opinions and what they have researched on. The idea contributes to the concept of the process of learning while solving the problem (Schein, 2002). Sturdy, Werr and Buono.( 2009), argues that the nature of the relation is shared responsibility between the consultant and the client. The power is half shared. Thus, no one idea dominates over the other. The advantage of the model over the others is that; the problem can be solved by employing different techniques since it involves a series of discussion and agreement on various points. Therefore, the problem can b e broken down and explained using different strategies from the clients view and the consultant view, and there is no an expected and fixed process to be followed (Sturdy, Werr, and Buono, 2009).In conclusion,...

The Reflection of Life During the Renaissance in Literature

Life in the Renaissance has been greatly reflected through the literature of its time. Many authors from this time reflected life in the Renaissance through their works. Several authors who strongly demonstrated this reflection include William Shakespeare, Thomas Elyot, Christopher Marlowe, Walter Raleigh, and Christine de Pizan. They accomplished this by producing various literary works, such as Hamlet, â€Å"The Passionate Shepherd to His Love,† â€Å"The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd,† Le Livre de la cite dames, and many others. Through the â€Å"Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd,† the Nymph rejects the Shepherd’s request to come live with him. By knowing the usage of dowries, it can be assumed that the Nymph might have rejected the Shepherd not because she did not like his offer, but because her dowry does not match his class standing. It is unable to be concluded whether the Nymph was of high or low class standing, because all that is known is that a Nymph is a beautiful and gracious maiden. Dowries were very important in the Renaissance when considering marriage. Literature during the Renaissance has also been influenced by marriage. During the Renaissance, marriage was almost always arranged. Most of the time, â€Å"women married men that they did not even know† (King). With women having no control over their marriage, most were obviously unhappy. During the Renaissance, it was completely acceptable for husbands to abuse, imprison, starve and debase their wives. God The Spirit By Beth Felker - 2164 Words

Often times we are at a loss for words when it comes to talking about the person of the Holy Spirit. Beth Felker Jones in her work entitled â€Å"God the Spirit† serves as an introduction to the study of the Holy Spirit in a distinctly Wesleyan and Ecumenical Perspective. Jones is working against the notion that the doctrine of the Holy Spirit is often the most neglected of all Christian teachings (1). She recognizes her experience within the Wesleyan tradition as one that shapes her pneumatology and this book. She asserts that one of Wesleyan Christianity’s special gifts is it’s â€Å"leaning against any tendency to neglect the Spirit† (4). Even with this framework she aims to place the Wesleyan perspective in a larger ecumenical milieu that shows the continuity of a Wesleyan pneumatology with the Tradition of the Church. Overall, her approach is very accessible, as she assumes very little and writes in such a way that allows her to cover large dogmatic t opics clearly and concisely. By merit of simply being an introduction only style book, there is the risk of glossing over topics and not providing enough in depth discussion to fully understand and comprehend the doctrine discussed. A reader should feel confident that Jones has indeed provided us with a solid introduction to Wesleyan pneumatology that has the ability to bear fruit and initiate growth in the life of the believer. Answer: Introduction: Fair Work Act 2009 The Australian government established Fair work Act 2009 within nation in order to establish a strong relationship between employers and employees. Along with this, with the help of Fair work Act 2009, the Australian government wants to replace the Workplace Relations Act and the Work Choices Amendments for the welfare of the employees. Moreover, the main objective behind this act was to remove discriminations at the workplace; so the employees can accomplish their personal as well as professional goals in an equal way. But, it was not a political move. In fact, it was a social move. It was an important decision taken by the government of the nation. As per the government, the Fair work Act 2009 is established to re-regulate employment relations and also enlarge individual rights at workplace. This act is also helpful in order to restore protections guidelines for trade unions (Ferrer, Morris, Hearn-MacKinnon Saville, 2012). In this way, the Fair work Act 2009 is an important move o f the government of the nation that is helpful to convey radical changes within nation. Along with this, it is not a political move because of the government created the act in order to change the whole industrial relations system in a proper way. Also, the act was established to set off statutory employment standards and to restore inequitable dismissal rights in order to provide protection to the employees. Moreover, the act was established to control employees with fairness as well as equality. As a result, it can be assumed that it was not a political move. Apart from this, some people believe that the act provide too much power to trade unions. But, in actual, it is not true. It is because of the act only control the power of the employers (Floyd, 2009). For case, an organization cannot fire an employee due to an unjust reason. The employer or organization is obliged to follow an ethical as well as fair process in order to terminate a worker from the employment. On the other hand, the Fair Work Act 2009 offers trade unions excessively power just in the bargaining process. It is because of trade unions have inherent bargaining power in the area of employment. In actual, the Fair Work Act 2009 is an important part of law. The act covers employment standards, and rights of employees in a proper way. Moreover, the act involves a few terms and conditions of employment in order to offer employment safety to the employees. The act is appropriate for both employers and employees in the same way. The Fair Work Act 2009 expands the accessibility of unfair dismissal remedies with regard to the workplace relations act and post-work choices effectively (Freyens Oslington, 2013). Introduction Research has been a useful instrument in many aspects of human life. Other than natural science studies, which are very common among natural scientists, social science research has gained relevance over the recent years. Social science research focuses on human behavior. Unlike in pure sciences where a specimen can be put in some controlled environment, human behavior cannot be put under restricted conditions. Moreover, a human being can change his or her character or provide untrue answers once he or she realizes that there is a study being conducted on his or her behavior. This would therefore demand social scientists to master the art of studying human behavior. This may not be very easy because in most cases, there is always a need to be closer enough to the object being studied. In case the subject being studied is a human being, it would be challenging to conclude research findings successfully. Human behavior is subject to change. Researchers should note this and device ways of dealing with it. Surveys offer the best way through which human behavior can be understood. A researcher may decide to conduct a study through surveying. Churchill and Lacobucci (2004) assert that a survey has proved to be a very effective method of conducting research. A researcher can decide to utilize an interview method in gathering data. Furthermore, the technique could as well be supplemented with surveying. This is important as the researcher would generalize from his or her own observation and use the results from the interview to validate or m odify the study. Research Methods Every research project applies a specific research method to achieve its objectives. This may actually depend on the goal of the project. The researcher in this paper intends to find out the prevalence of drug abuse in the state of Arizona. The society detests the habit of drug addiction. The researcher therefore devices a method that would back up the findings received from various respondents. A survey could be used to support the interview. For the interview, the researcher designed questionnaires that would guide respondents in answering structured questions. The questionnaire was designed to gather information pertaining to respondent’s gender, their involvement in drug abuse and their encounters with police officers. The researcher was keen to exclude some statements from the questionnaire. In the questionnaire, the researcher deliberately avoided asking questions such as whether the respondent was a drunkard when the accident occurred. Such questions are intimidating and can change the mood of the respondent leading to biased answers. In this scenario, the researcher made a concerted effort to design questions in a way that would not make respondents feel guilty either as drunkards or as drunk drivers. The researcher succeeded in doing this in his third question, which inquires about any encounter with the Arizona State officers. This question was designed to push the blame on state officers. This lifts the guilt from the respondent hence increasing the chances of extracting required information from the respondent. To maintain ethics in this study, the researcher explained the purpose of the study and its intended use. Application of the Scenario The concept used in the above scenario would be applicable in a business research. In most business researches, there is always the need to gather information without intimidating respondents. The questionnaire in this scenario was designed technically. Therefore, it is appropriate to ensure that respondents are not subjected to questions that are intimidating. In case there is a question that needs to be addressed, it should be structured in a way that would not make respondents feel guilty.Advertising We will write a custom case study sample on Survey Results specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More It is always very important to limit uncertainties when collecting data. This would call for application of appropriate probability concepts when collecting data. In this research, it would be appropriate to use empirical probability concept. This is because the data will be given a h istorical analysis. Empirical approach would limit uncertainties that always come with data collection techniques (MacLean, Mohr, 1999). In any research, it is always vital to identify discreet outcomes. In the case provided, the researcher was able to gather discreet data from respondents by carefully designing the questionnaire to avoid biased answers. It is always necessary to ensure that the data collected is as accurate as possible. Most researches are always useful in formulating policies that may be applicable in various fields in society. As Kabani (2009) explains, accuracy and precision of various probability concepts is important if information is to be of any use. However, these probability concepts always have some degree of assumptions. These assumptions may jeopardize the accuracy of results. On the other hand, the need for accuracy and precision may also render a concept irrelevant. This will call for a balance between the need for accuracy or precision and the appli cability of a concept. This should be done in a way that would allow accuracy while still accepting the practicability of the concept used. Hamilton (2004) explains that in a bid to ensure maximum accuracy, care should be taken to ensure that necessary assumptions are taken into considerations. Similarly, the assumptions should not override the need for accurate data. Data gathered through survey indicate that majority of drivers in the state of Arizona are men. The survey also indicates that majority of these drivers are always involved in drug abuse. From the survey, over 80% admitted that at one point, they were involved in drug abuse. English Legal System Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

English Legal System - Essay Example Thus, consistency within the law is both in practice and theory, to a maximum extent is preserved and can be regarded as one of the fundamental demands of the meaning of justice, which is covered by giving equal treatment of like cases, in like manner1. UK can be said to be the birth place of the legal concept namely judicial precedent or stare decisis or ratio decidendi. Now, judicial precedent is widely followed by the common law jurisdictions around the world. The judicial precedent concept is footed upon the rule that once a court has given its verdict in a given background, the analogous verdict should be arrived at in any future litigation where the facts of the cases are alike. The judicial precedent principle is based upon the concept that if a verdict was given by a superior court, then lower court is under obligation to follow it, whereas there is no obligation on the superior court to follow the decision given by a lower court. It is to be remembered that decision given by Lord Atkin in Donoghue v Stevenson2 in 1932 as regards to â€Å"neighbour principle† which has become the reference case for the cases involving ‘negligence’ in the latter period3. A gullible consumer may under proper scenarios recoup damages for harm sustained by a defective product either it be car as held in Andrews v Hopkinson,4 or it may be an underwear as held in Grant v Australian Knitting Mills.5 Likewise , the verdict given in Salomon v Salomon & Co Ltd6 also became a precedent in subsequent cases where it was held that a company is a juristic person , has separate legal entity and a company is different from its members.7 In these cases, the courts have considered only the legal principle involved and not the particular facts of the earlier cases. Thus, the legal principle, which is known as the ratio decidendi is the crux portion of the judicial decision which is a binding precedent.8 An obiter dictum in judicial verdict deals with observation made by a judge in the course of litigation, which is not essential for the final verdict and hence is not regarded as a binding precedent. For instance, in R v Howe & Bannister9, it was held by the House of Lords that defence of duress could not be extended to murder crime and this has been regarded as the ratio decidendi of the case. Further, it was observed by the House of Lords, whether the defence should be made available to those accused who engaged in an attempt of murder and observed obiter dicta that the defence of duress should not be made available to the attempted murder also10. It is to be noted that obiter dicta is also referred by other names namely persuasive precedent, which refers to the legal principles observed by the judges which just offer some elucidation on the subject. Thus, persuasive precedents may also emanate from lower courts and also from the verdicts of other jurisdiction11. In R v Gotts12 , the House of Lords was of the view that justification under duress cannot be extended for

Relativism and Morality Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 3

Relativism and Morality - Essay Example It was just brave to put forth that some things are just basically wrong not because they are â€Å"never questioned or breached in practice, but because they never should be† (88). Goodman’s disagreed on Matilal’s idea of pluralism that norms differ from one society to another. Goodman argued that while Matilal’s assertion in many aspect are true, the concept of what is right and wrong is not just about common consent but unanimity. For what is agreed by many may not necessarily mean right. In plain language, mob rule is not always right. Such, Goodman puts forth the four areas which human experience where right or wrong is constant regardless of time, culture, understanding, religion or circumstance. It may already be a common knowledge but Goodman, put coherence and logic why these acts are not to be done in the first place. They are; (1) genocide, politically induced famine, and germ warfare; (2) terrorism, hostage taking, and child warriors; (3) slave ry, polygamy, and incest; and (4) rape and female genital cutting. We already know that murder is wrong much more when it is done on mass scale which what happens in genocide. Goodman succinctly put the argument what we already that â€Å"all living beings make claims to life†. ... It is not even limited to a tyrant’s prejudice, but can also be glossed over with good intention such as Maoist Cultural Revolution where â€Å"he was ready, he bragged in 1958, to sacrifice 300 million lives which composed half of China’s population, â€Å"for the victory of world revolution†. Goodman also hit the head of the nail to bury the very reason why terrorism is utterly wrong. His reasoning stood above the excuse of justifying terror that â€Å"one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter†. The excuse of subjectivity, that one group may disagree while another may find it laudable was paled with Goodman’s exposure and giving terror a face why it is just wrong. It willfully targets non-combatants and intend to intimidate and attract attention at the cost of many lives. Its obscenity and flagrancy as an act was exposed when Goodman rightfully conveyed that in terrorism, â€Å"the more helpless the victims, the more lur id the light. . . The more devastating the damage, the more inhumane, the more avidly is it sought by the strategists, ideologues, and theologians of terror†. The vileness of intention which was unmasked by Goodman just stripped terrorism any of its political justification that made it acceptable to some sectors in society. The excuse of addressing terror’s â€Å"root cause† also became moot as Goodman explained that soft pedaling the act of sowing fear make them pushes the pedal complicit with those who seek to profit politically from the mayhem. Equally unacceptable as murder in any form or method, is also the exploitation of individual be it in the form of slavery, prostitution or any form of exploitation

Graduation Speech: We Must Give Back! :: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address

When I was asked to be your commencement speaker I figured it was my responsibility to say something so significant that it would help you make sense of what you have experienced over the last two years. I figured that I should answer one of life's great mysteries that you may have been confused about. And I am prepared to do that today. The question is, we have been dealing with them, writing papers about them, but what in the world are these Learning Outcomes anyway? And why have you made us study them? Well, here is how you can make you education work for you. As many of you leave the protective walls of Lennon , you will be looking for jobs and careers that require interviews. When the interviewer asks you (and they will, I promise) tell me a little about your educational background, you won't just look at them confused like a graduate from BCC, NO! Whip out those learning outcomes and here is what you are going to say: I graduated from one of the most technologically advanced community colleges in the country where I was required to integrate advanced software into my learning to be successful. I have the ability to be a member or leader of teams of any size composed of people from very diverse racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My degree is evidence that teams have successfully completed tasks within a short amount of time. I can express my ideas clearly and confidently to large groups of people. And last but not least, I can evaluate the world around me to make critical decisions that will benefit your company immensely. And if you deliver your responses with confidence and conviction, all they will hopefully say is, your hired. On a more philosophical note, my fellow students and I have truly made history. We are the first two-year graduating class of Lennon Community College. Our wisdom as students helped shape this institution. Every school in the world has a certain feel to it. That feeling is made up of the quality of the people within the school. That feeling is also based on the legacy of the upper classmen whom have added there own identity and passed it down. In our case, being a brand new school, there was no legacy to adopt, we were the first, and the class of 2002 took it upon ourselves to create what many observers think is the most nurturing, open minded and healthy educational atmosphere in the State of Washington.

Accusations Without Proof

Accusations Without Proof In Arthur Miller's play The Crucible, he tells the story of Salem, Massachusetts during the witch trials. He does this to draw a comparison between the red scare of the 1950s and the false accusations of the girls and the community in Salem in 1692. In his play the little girls who are about twelve to eighteen, they were dancing naked in the forest with a black caldron with Tituba.Paris is the one who finds them and ow all the girls have to lie and say Tituba is in touch with the devil, act like they see evil spirits, and say that people were witches even thou they were not. In the end a lot of people die over silly things that could not even be proven. Some of the things they would do for punishment was, they would hold them underwater for ten minutes and if they came back up dead they were not witches, if they were alive they were. It was a lose lose method and not the best way to solve things. Most cases they came up dead. Another thing they would do is Ju st hang hem and not give them a chance to explain themselves. When they would take them into court and testify that they were not in touch with the devil the girls would act like they see things, and start to get scared. One girl went as far as faking a coma for several hours. The people that died did not deserve to over something silly like little girls trying to get out of trouble. This was much like the Red Scare because, everyone was paranoid thinking communism was taking over.People were questioned to see if they were communist, ust like in The Crucible. It Just goes to show how fast rumors can spread. Arthur Miller wrote about The Crucible because he wanted to show how close it was to the Red Scare, and that people would be questioned without proof. The point of this book is to demonstrate how hysteria and rumors can cause people a lot of problems, which in this case caused several people to die. In the Red Scare people thought Russians were spreading communism. In The Crucibl e people thought witchcraft was spreading through Salem. The girls went as far as letting eople close to them die Just to save themselves from getting in trouble. When Proctor and another member of Salem start an argument over whose land they are on, rumors start to spread that the girls are doing this to get their neighbors land. Elizabeth is the one who convinces John into admitting that he has seen the devil. John agrees to do it. The officers of the court rejoice in finding out something about the trials. But John refuses to give up anymore names in which he saw with the devil. The officers of the court want John to make his confession public but he grows ith anger and tears up the document he was suppose to sign. John and three others were hung at the very end of the book. All of the Salem witch trials could have been avoided if the group of girls would nave Just contessed to dancing naked in the torest. They could nave saved several lives from being ended and unnecessary punishm ents. People had to sit in Jail for years and would have killed themselves instead of going crazy in Jail.In the end they still got in trouble but if they would have confessed right away they would have robably Just got in minor trouble instead of ending up having a bunch of innocent people. The court didn't handle the situation in the right manor either. They put people in Jail that they had no proof against. They could have thought of better ways to decide if they were witches or not instead of having them killed. In conclusion all of the Salem Witch Trials could have been avoided and lives could have been saved if the self-centered girls would have Just confessed right away. â€Å"Mr. Hale, you surely do not doubt my Justice. † -Danforth

Tootsie Michael Dorsey Movie Review

In this movie the Tootsie Michael Dorsey is jobless. His tainted reputation makes him unable to work with anyone. Due to his reputation, he disguises by dressing like a woman during the auditions hoping that it was the easier way to get a job. In so doing he tailored himself towards what the director wanted at the auditions. He disguises by the name of Dorthy Michaels.   He falls in love with a, leading actress in the soap opera: Julie Nichols (Jessica Lange). However, Julie is unaware if Dorthy Michaels is really a man. As incestuous chaos breeds on set, Dorthy grows more famous. As he takes turns being a mother to some, best friend, confessor to others, and even object of lust, his reverence for what he expected to be easy grows. More complication ensues after he falls in love with his co-star as he is courted by Julie’s widowed father  (Wave). Tootsie is a great movie for couples. It is also good to those who would like to laugh at stereotypes and even sexual mores. It is a romantic comedy. A day came when one of the reels of the show is destroyed. This forced the cast to do a critical scene live on air. Dorothy visits Julie in her dressing room. Julie thinks that another woman is in love with her and she tells him that she cannot see him anymore. She thinks that Dorothy wants more from her. Soon afterward Dorothy reveals her identity. After revealing his identity Julie walks to him and hits him in the belly. Later on they meet with Les and he tells him that he is in love with Julie. He makes an attempt to see Julie and waits for her outside the studio but on spotting him Julie walks away. After attempts to talk to her she listens to him she later on falls in love with Michael  (Larry). Most of the recent day’s romantic comedies are not authentic and this makes a film like the Tootsie hold up to date. It is highly recommended for those who have not seen it. From this movie clips gender and gender interactions is seen as a great travesty to the cultural norms of the society  (Sydney). This is why Julie hates Dorothy on discovering she had ulterior motives towards her. This is unlike in the contemporary society where even gays have been assimilated in the society.
